Live as children of light.” Noelia explained to the students that this means that we were all covered in sins, but no matter what, God forgave you and now you are clean and a light of God. “ In the world, you are meant to be different,” Noelia told the students. Being one of the most exciting events for FFA students, the Arkansas State Fair has come to an end. As a Junior, Veronica Rivas has taken up a ribbon for every animal that she entered. This included her two market lambs, two market hogs, as well as her market steer. Rivas placed top four in her class with her steer. Both of her market hogs had placed 10th in very large classes, some exceeding 25 plus. Rivas’s two lambs had placed 4th and 5th; those classes exceeding 15 plus. When asked how she felt about this year’s results Rivas said, “The 2016 Arkansas State Fair was yet again another fair in the books for me. Getting a ribbon at the State Fair is very difficult, so I’m grateful to have gotten placed with all my FFA animal projects. Overall, I would say my State Fair experience this year was a pretty great.” As a Senior, Kayla Martin had one of her pigs make top four in her class. Martin had her other two pigs placed 6th and 10th. When asked how she felt about not being able to participate in FFA, as well as the State Fair, Martin said, “ I cried like a baby for the past two weeks. It’s pretty pitiful, but I really don’t know where I’m going to go with everything now since I can’t do it anymore. Showing was my life and it taught me so many things and I couldn’t be happier that I got to experience it with all of the people who were a part of it with me. I hate that I had stepped in that ring for the last time as a competitor, and I would give almost anything to start over and experience it all over again, but life is life and God is leading me into the next chapter of Kayla’s Great Adventure. I just really hope it involves judging shows and raising show pigs!” The 2016 Arkansas State Fair has been a success and the FFA students are ready to take on next year’s State Fair. |
