ALEXA BOYLES
CHAPTER TWO. It was the first day back from Summer break, I couldn’t wait to show off my first-day outfit; it was all I could think about last night. “Sarah, we are leaving in 5 minutes.” I snapped out of my thoughts and gave myself one last glance in the mirror before rushing downstairs. I grabbed an apple and met my dad in the car. “I don’t want to see you in my office at all this year, Sarah,” he exclaimed. I gave him an annoyed look and I rolled my eyes. Then I turned my head to continue staring out of the window until we got to school. Once we got to school, I went to check in with the office and got my schedule and locker keys. Then I texted my best friend, Nicole, to meet me at our lockers. As I started off to my locker, I stopped at a water fountain to get a drink. When I finished drinking, I turned around and ran smack into someone’s chest, I smelled cologne, I pulled back and came face to face with a boy; he had dark brown hair and emerald green eyes. He smiled down at me as his height shocked me, he was about 6’3. I was so speechless, “I’m sorry about that, I am really clumsy.” “Sarah, right?” he asked still smiling. I nodded, “It’s fine, here let me get that for you,” I looked down and realized I knocked my locker keys off of my keychain. He picked it up looking at the number. “Locker 432, I am five lockers down, 437.” Just then my phone buzzed, I looked down to see that Nicole texted me to see where I was. “I have to go, my friend is waiting on me,” I said. “Alright, see you around sometime Sarah,” he said flashing me a cheesy smile. I blushed, walked away, and finally reached my locker giving Nicole the look I always give her when I have news. Maybe this year won’t be so bad after all. ALEXA BOYLES
CHAPTER ONE. The school year was about to start, tomorrow, actually. So, here I am at the shopping mall with my best friend Nicole Chavez and my mother, We were trying to get some last minute outfits. We are so excited to be entering high school as sophomores, it has always been such a big deal to us to be able to call ourselves “high schoolers.” In high school there are so many different opportunities, new experiences, and most importantly- high school boys! My father, the high school principal, has already given me the boy talk and gave me some names of guys to stay away from. The high school cafeteria is what we are mostly excited about. We get a 10 minute longer lunch and instead of eating disgusting cafeteria food, they have a third line. It sells things like pizza, pretzels, nachos, and other junk food. Nicole and I are totally stoked. As we finished up our shopping, my mother dropped off Nicole and we started on our way home. “So, how excited are you to be entering high school” my mother asked me breaking the silent car ride home as I was scrolling down my instagram feed. “I am so excited, mom this is one of the things I have been waiting for, for a long time.” She turned her face from the road and looked at me and gave me a sincere smile. “I am so happy you feel that way about school. But I have been meaning to talk to you about something” she said as we pulled into the driveway of the house. “Sure, what’s up” I asked her while watching her pull the keys out of the ignition. “Well Sarah, you know your father and I love you and Lily very much right”. I eyed her funny and replied by shaking my head. “Well sometimes, things don’t work out very well in a relatio-” I cut her off before she even finished. “You and dad can not be getting a divorce!” She looked at me and frowned up a little. “Sarah, we are. You will be living here and Lily will be coming with me. It will be finalized next week. I am so sorry” I looked at her with anger. How can my parents ruin this for me? I am starting high school and it's already not starting out good for me. |
