$1,000,000 is more than what most people make in their lifetime. However, people would spend this amount of money different ways if they could get their hands on it. “I would use the money to set my parents up for life, pay my college tuition, and then probably save the rest,” said Katelyn Patterson. Family and education are very important to Katelyn, and she would use the money for those two reasons before spending it on other things. Sadie Trevino said, “I would buy out a concert, go see Hamilton, and then buy a really nice house.” Having fun and enjoying life is what is important to Sadie. She wants her students to enjoy her class and to be the one they look forward to each day. “The most difficult aspect of teaching is timing,” said Ms. Reagan. The reason she says timing is the most difficult is because there is so much to be done in such a short time of forty five minutes a day and only nine months of school a year. This timing issue makes Ms. Reagan’s goal for her students just to be for them to grow as people personally and educationally during this period of time. “The most rewarding part of being a teacher is when you hear a student make a positive comment about your class, and you realize that you are helping them,” stated Ms. Reagan. With fall coming quickly around the corner, there are many things to like or dislike about it. We interviewed a couple of different people to ask them what their favorite thing about fall is. When Ruby Peppers was interviewed, she said, “my favorite thing about fall is probably all the leaves changing in the cooler weather. With fall here, that also means it’s time for football season.” Even though there are several things about fall to like, there are several things not to like about fall too. When interviewed, Grant Ethridge answered, “the only thing about fall that I do not like is how everything is flavored with pumpkin spice stuff. What I do like is the cold weather, because that means that I can wear a hoodie all the time.” With a new season arriving, people feel different about each one. New seasons bring new changes, and some people like certain seasons better than others. Everyone’s opinion is different, and that’s okay. ROSE TINAJERO
At De Queen High School, we have a variety of different lunches throughout the year, but some are preferred or disliked more than others. Alejandro Lerma finds the bean burritos to be delicious and his favorite school lunch choice. “I love eating the bean burritos and would eat them everyday if I could,” said Alejandro. However, Dennise Tellez dislikes the bean burritos and finds them to be her least favorite food choice. “The bean burritos just aren’t something I look forward to eating,” said Dennise. When the question about what changes you would like to make to school lunches came up, both again had different replies. Alejandro said, “I think they should start giving out seconds more.” Dennise went in a different direction and brought up the line issues. “I think they should have four lines, so that we aren’t waiting in line for such a long time,” she said. Overall, both people agreed they enjoy the school lunches and find an option everyday that they enjoy eating. ROSE TINAJERO
Most people don’t know what it is like to be a twin, but Abby and Ashley Dykes do. Growing up as twins, they have made many memories together and have learned to enjoy each other’s company. Ashley even said, “The best thing about being a twin is you always have someone to hang out with.” Being a twin is almost like being connected at the hip, you are always together. This can be useful sometimes, but other times it can have negative effects. “The worst thing is that she knows about everything I do,” Ashley said. Abby and Ashley have created a bond with each other that is different than the bond they have created with their other siblings. “The only difference is that we pretty much know everything about each other. For example, if one of us goes somewhere, the other one goes too. Also, we almost always understand what the other one is trying to say. If we're in a group of people and Ashley says something that no one else gets, I get it. Finally, we’re not constantly with our brothers like we are each other,” said Abby. To conclude, Abby and Ashley both agreed that they would never want to go through life without being twins. |
